How to Rent a Holiday Home
A Step by Step Guide to Your Holiday Rental Experience
Renting a private holiday home is very different from booking a hotel, as is the experience!
Working directly with owners means you have a unique customer service experience, as well as the opportunity to take advantage of real local knowledge.
Finding and Booking Your Rental
Use our web site to locate your desired property. When you find a home that best suits your holiday needs and budget, you can contact the owner directly, either using the contact details in the advert or by using the contact details published. Ensure that you provide your contact details in order to receive a prompt response.
Western Crete Property Rentals do not take part in the booking process, so for any initial questions about the properties advertised on our site or to make a booking, please contact the advertiser direct using the contact details on their advert.
Western Crete Property Rentals are committed to the provision of properties which provide a secure marketplace for travellers. Our customer support team will ensure that each property will deliver a great holiday experience.
Properties on the website are private homes which mean that both owners and renters benefit from the upkeep and accurate descriptions of the properties in the adverts. We always recommend that travellers ask the owner or property manager to elaborate on their property prior to paying deposits.
Our reviews enable past guests to rate the property and its as advertised accuracy with the results and comments displayed on the property page.
Secure Your Booking
Homeowners will ask for a deposit, this is common practice and secures your property rental. The deposit is usually between 10% and 40%.
Credit Cards and Paypal are recommended as a method of payment, do not send cash.
We would recommend that you don't pay for your holiday rental by cash, cashiers cheque or via a money transfer service, as you have little or no financial recourse when you use these payment methods.
Check and Sign the Owners Agreement
After receiving the deposit, the property owner or manager will provide any contractual details and will ensure you have arrival and departure information. This communication will also include any cancellation or refund policies. Review this information carefully and ask the property owner if something is unclear.
Always keep a copy of the owners agreement for your holiday records.
Complete Payment
The exact payment methodology will be outlined by the owner, this may vary from property to property, however in the majority of cases full payment will be expected several weeks before your expected arrival at the property. In order to prevent any loss of deposit, all payments should be made on time.
The same payment methods recommended for your deposit should be utilised for your final payment.
Information to Acquire from the Owner
Please ensure before you leave for your holiday, that you have all the necessary important information from the owner.
After your Stay
Contact the owner to arrange the return of your reservation deposit, if applicable. As long as the rental property is left as you found it, then you should get a full refund.
Write a Review of the Property
Writing a review of the property is an excellent way of letting your home owner know your thoughts on the property, whilst giving potential guests a far better understanding of the property and the area and its suitability for their trip.
You can do this by finding the property in which you stayed and clicking on the Write a Review page.
